East Gastonia Hardware Co. has been featured in the Gaston Gazette several times over the last six decades. Our company has a history rooted in the community because we treat our customers like family. We are a locally owned and family-operated company that provides hardware and lawn tools for customers in East Gastonia, North Carolina. East Gastonia Hardware Co. was started by Peter Short and his wife, Martha Short. Their daughter, Andrea Bell, currently handles anything involving computers and deals. Although they didn’t know anything about hardware when they started, they soon learned what to buy and what to keep in inventory. One thing that has never changed is how East Gastonia Hardware Co. treats its customers. Martha Short said this about our customer service:
“I think we opened at 8’oclock, and you had traffic all day long. But it takes a while to really build up your business. We credited them with a BB gun or a bicycle, and they paid for it by the week. But they are adults now, and they’re our customers. You would be surprised at the people that come in, and you will get a hug and a kiss from them. It just means so much to have people love and respect you. If you have a business, you can’t stand around. You have to make people feel that they’re welcome and that you want them to come back.”
